FIFA World Cup 2026

Haiti opens training camp in Port St. Lucie in 20 days to kickoff

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup twenty days away, Haiti's national team is set to open its pre-tournament training camp this Sunday, May 24, at the voco Sandpiper All-Inclusive Resort in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The camp runs through June 8, hosted in partnership with USL's Port St. Lucie Soccer Club. It will be the squad's primary preparation base before two high-profile warmup friendlies in South Florida: New Zealand on June 2 and Peru on June 5, both chosen deliberately to engage the large Haitian diaspora in the Miami area.

Haiti's 26-player roster, unveiled on May 16, is built almost entirely on diaspora talent drawn from clubs across 13 countries. The squad's most experienced figures are goalkeeper Johny Placide and striker Duckens Nazon, each capped 80 times. Three MLS players feature: Philadelphia Union midfielder Danley Jean Jacques, FC Dallas forward Don Deedson Louicius, and Toronto FC forward Derrick Etienne Jr. Haiti land in a demanding Group C alongside Brazil, Morocco, and Scotland, with their tournament opener against Scotland scheduled for June 13.

In Haiti, official TV coverage will be provided by Tele Haiti and Canal+ Haiti. In the United States, matches air on FOX/FS1 in English and Telemundo/Universo in Spanish.

"These two matches against New Zealand and Peru are part of a very intentional approach… Miami represents something deeper for us." — Karl-Philippe Alexis, FHF Head of Marketing & Communications

Manno Sanon, the goal that silenced Italy

Haiti's only other World Cup. Sanon beat Dino Zoff and ended 1,142 minutes of Italian invincibility. 52 years later, the Grenadiers return.
