Haiti settles into Port St. Lucie camp, 15 days from Group C opener
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup fifteen days away, Haiti's national men's team has begun its pre-tournament training camp in Port St. Lucie, Florida — a deliberate choice to keep the squad close to the diaspora heartland of South Florida ahead of the nation's first World Cup appearance in 52 years.
Coach Sébastien Migné's 26-man roster, unveiled on 15 May, leans heavily on diaspora talent. Three MLS representatives headline the group: Philadelphia Union midfielder Danley Jean Jacques, FC Dallas forward Don Deedson Louicius, and Toronto FC forward Derrick Etienne Jr. Veteran goalkeeper Johny Placide provides experience between the posts, while Ligue 1 midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde adds top-flight European pedigree.
Haiti face a formidable Group C: Brazil, Morocco, and Scotland. Their first match is scheduled for 16 June. The FHF has arranged two warm-up friendlies in South Florida — against New Zealand and Peru — explicitly designed to mobilise the diaspora ahead of the tournament opener.
On the cultural front, Miami's Haitian Heritage Soccer League hosted a community event tied to the World Cup build-up, and the FHF's head of marketing, Karl-Philippe Alexis, described the diaspora as "one of the most engaged and passionate in world football."
No injury reports or lineup changes emerged in the last 24 hours.
