Eve of the World Cup: Les Grenadiers ready, one day to go

One day before the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off, Haiti's Les Grenadiers stand on the edge of history. Their first World Cup appearance in 52 years begins Saturday, June 13 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where they face Scotland at 9:00 p.m. ET on FS1. Coach Sébastien Migné's squad has completed its pre-tournament preparations out of their Port St. Lucie base camp, carrying strong momentum from a 4–0 demolition of New Zealand on June 2 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale — goals from Ruben Providence (12'), Lenny Joseph (51'), Frantzdy Pierrot (62'), and Duke Lacroix (87') delivering the emphatic result.

The 26-man roster spans clubs in 13 countries, from Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor, three MLS players — Danley Jean Jacques (Philadelphia Union), Louicius Deedson (FC Dallas), and Derrick Etienne Jr. (Toronto FC) — and two Belgian Pro League representatives in Jean-Kévin Duverne (KAA Gent) and Wilguens Paugain (Zulte Waregem). Captain Johny Placide, 38, guards the net from SC Bastia. Haitian broadcaster Tele Haiti and Canal+ Haiti will carry the full campaign domestically.

The Group C path — Scotland (June 13, Boston), Brazil (June 19, Philadelphia), Morocco (June 24, Atlanta) — is steep. But the diaspora is ready. The tournament opens tomorrow.
