Placide & Nazon both without clubs; Isidor eyes Sunderland exit

Three Grenadiers headline today's brief with significant club-status news. Veteran goalkeeper Johny Placide, 38, is the most prominent: he officially became a free agent on 1 July 2026 following the expiry of his contract at SC Bastia, per Transfermarkt. Haiti's most-capped goalkeeper (84 caps) is now on the market as Ligue 2 clubs enter pre-season — a striking moment for a player who defined an era between the posts for Les Grenadiers.

He is not alone. Striker Duckens Nazon — Haiti's all-time leading scorer with 44 international goals — also finds himself without a club as of 20 July 2026, having departed Esteghlal FC, according to Transfermarkt. At 32, Nazon's next destination will draw significant attention.

At Sunderland, Wilson Isidor is pushing for a summer exit after losing his starting place, according to the Sun. The 25-year-old contributed 12 goals and two assists in 43 appearances during Sunderland's Premier League promotion campaign but has not started a league match since December. Sunderland are not expected to block a move.

Elsewhere, Ricardo Adé started for LDU Quito in their 1-1 draw at Manta on 22 July (LigaPro Ecuador), per ESPN — his third consecutive start — while Carl-Fred Sainthe started El Paso's 1-0 USL Championship defeat at Tulsa on 19 July.

Manno Sanon, the goal that silenced Italy

Haiti's only World Cup. Sanon beat Dino Zoff and ended 1,142 minutes of Italian invincibility — still the standard the Grenadiers chase.
