Isidor stays at Sunderland as West Ham bid rebuffed; Lenny Joseph fires in Europe

Wilson Isidor is going nowhere this summer. Sunderland have firmly rejected West Ham's approach for the 25-year-old Haitian striker, according to Sky Sports, making their position clear: Isidor is not for sale. The forward has become central to Sunderland's Premier League identity, valued not only for goals but for his character and work-rate within the squad.

The brightest club-football story of the week elsewhere belongs to Lenny Joseph at Ferencváros. The 25-year-old scored twice in the first leg of Ferencváros's UEFA Europa League qualifying win at Ferencváros (2-1 away), then added a goal and two shots in the second-leg 2-2 draw — enough to see Ferencváros through 4-3 on aggregate on 30 July. He then started their 1-0 first-leg win over Gornik on 5 August, finishing with two shots and one on target. After 25-goal/assist campaigns last season, Joseph is carrying that form directly into European competition.

Elsewhere: Wilguens Paugain started Zulte Waregem's 2-1 Belgian Pro League win over Genk on 9 August. Ricardo Adé started LDU Quito's 2-0 LigaPro defeat to Independiente del Valle on 7 August. Dominique Simon arrived at Tatran Prešov on loan from FK Pardubice ahead of the Slovak season.

"Sunderland have made their position crystal clear over Wilson Isidor — the 25-year-old striker will not be sold this summer despite attracting interest from several clubs, particularly West Ham." — Sky Sports

Manno Sanon, the goal that silenced Italy

Haiti's only World Cup. Sanon beat Dino Zoff and ended 1,142 minutes of Italian invincibility — still the standard the Grenadiers chase.
