Wilson Isidor stays at Sunderland as West Ham bid rebuffed; Lenny Joseph on fire in Europa League

Sunderland have drawn a firm line under Wilson Isidor's future: according to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old Haitian striker will not be leaving the Stadium of Light this summer despite concrete interest from West Ham. The club views him as integral to their project, and Isidor himself has spoken publicly about wanting to improve on his six-goal tally from last season. West Ham's pursuit is the clearest signal yet of how far his stock has risen in English football.

The week's other standout is Lenny Joseph at Ferencváros, who has been outstanding in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. He scored twice in the first leg against FC Twente (W 2-1, 23 July), then added a goal in the second leg draw (2-2, 30 July) as Ferencváros progressed 4-3 on aggregate. He then started in the next round against Gor Mahia (W 1-0, 5 August). Three goals in three European qualifying matches makes Joseph the squad's form player of the summer.

Elsewhere, Danley Jean-Jacques has been a consistent starter for Philadelphia Union across MLS and the Leagues Cup, featuring in six successive matches through to 9 August. Carl-Fred Sainthe contributed off the bench as El Paso Locomotive won back-to-back USL Championship games (1-0 vs. Oakland, 8 August; 1-0 vs. Montana, 5 August). Duckens Nazon is without a club after leaving Esteghlal on 20 July 2026.

"Sunderland have made their position crystal clear — Wilson Isidor will not be sold this summer." — Sky Sports

Manno Sanon, the goal that silenced Italy

Haiti's only World Cup. Sanon beat Dino Zoff and ended 1,142 minutes of Italian invincibility — still the standard the Grenadiers chase.
