Danley Jean-Jacques scores as Philly draw Miami; Isidor saga deepens at Sunderland

Danley Jean-Jacques is the form story of the week for Haitian club football. The Philadelphia Union midfielder started all five of the club's most recent matches across MLS and the Leagues Cup, scoring a goal in the 3-2 away win at New York City FC on 16 August, then following that up with a full 90-minute shift in the 2-2 home draw with Inter Miami on 19–20 August — two shots registered, three fouls committed. Philadelphia's run of results (W, W, W over Leagues Cup group stage, then that NYCFC league win) places them in strong playoff contention heading into the back half of the MLS regular season.

Wilson Isidor's future at Sunderland remains the squad's biggest off-pitch talking point. Sky Sports reports the Black Cats will not sell the striker this summer despite West Ham interest; a separate report from The Sun indicates Isidor himself is keen to leave. Sunderland are standing firm. The 25-year-old has scored five Premier League goals in 30 appearances this term.

Elsewhere, Lenny Joseph continues to deliver for Ferencváros in European competition — the forward scored twice in the 2-1 away leg win over FC Twente on 23 July and added a goal in the home 2-2 draw (2nd leg), with Ferencváros progressing 4-3 on aggregate into the Europa League playoff round.

Johny Placide has departed SC Bastia on a free and joined FC Borgo (National 1, Group A) as of 1 July 2026, stepping down to France's fourth tier at 38. Martin Expérience has likewise moved on from AS Nancy, signing with FCV Dender EH in the Belgian Challenger Pro League.

Manno Sanon, the goal that silenced Italy

Haiti's only World Cup. Sanon beat Dino Zoff and ended 1,142 minutes of Italian invincibility — still the standard the Grenadiers chase.
