Isidor signs Sunderland contract to 2030; Duverne, Nazon, Placide in flux
Wilson Isidor is the story of the day. The Sunderland forward has signed a new contract keeping him at the Stadium of Light until 2030, with the 26-year-old declaring "there is still a lot more to achieve here" (BBC Sport). Isidor, who joined on loan from Zenit St Petersburg in August 2024 before making the deal permanent in February 2025, has scored 19 goals in 83 appearances for the Black Cats across all competitions — including six in the Premier League last season as Sunderland finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League.
Elsewhere, three significant squad-registration stories reshape the Grenadiers' club landscape. Jean-Kévin Duverne, listed in THE SQUAD at La Gantoise, has moved on: Flashscore and Sofascore both confirm he joined Omonia Nicosia on 11 August 2026 after his loan at Gent expired. Duckens Nazon, listed at Esteghlal, has been without a club since 20 July 2026 per Transfermarkt — his contract there concluded. Johny Placide, listed at SC Bastia, has joined FC Borgo in France's National 1 (fourth tier) as of 1 July 2026 per Transfermarkt.
On the pitch, Lenny Joseph started both legs as Ferencváros eliminated Trabzonspor 5-0 on aggregate in UEFA Europa League qualifying (4-0 on 27 August, 1-0 in the first leg). Danley Jean-Jacques has been a consistent starter for Philadelphia Union, scoring on 16 August in a 3-2 win at New York City FC. Ricardo Adé started LDU Quito's Libertadores second leg against Mirandes (0-0, LDU advancing 5-4 on penalties, 20 August), earning a yellow card. Derrick Etienne Jr. scored in Toronto FC's 2-1 win at Inter Miami on 22 August. Wilguens Paugain — listed as injured on Sofascore — has a club match today: Zulte Waregem host KVC Westerlo (Pro League, 17:15 UTC).
