Jean-Jacques nets again as Philly surge; Etienne scores in TFC thriller

Danley Jean-Jacques is the form story of the week. The Philadelphia Union midfielder started and scored against CF Montréal on 5 September (W 2-0), his second goal in three matches after netting against NYCFC on 16 August. He also registered an assist at Red Bull New York on 29 August in a 3-1 win. Philly sit top of the Eastern Conference table on current form, and Jean-Jacques has been central to that run with consistent starting minutes and direct contributions across consecutive MLS fixtures.

Derrick Etienne Jr. also caught the eye: the Toronto FC forward came off the bench and scored in a 4-4 draw with Chicago on 5 September, adding to a goal on 22 August at Inter Miami. Etienne's return to form is timely for a Toronto side that continues to draw heavily.

Ricardo Adé started for LDU Quito in a 3-1 LigaPro win at Técnico Universitario on 4 September, the defending Ecuadorian champions maintaining their title credentials. Hannes Delcroix carries a 8.3 average Sofascore rating through two Swiss Super League starts for FC Lugano this season, with Lugano hosting Basel on 6 September. Carl-Fred Sainthe scored as a substitute in El Paso's 4-1 USL win over Louisville on 29 August; El Paso sit first in their conference with five straight wins.

Two canonical squad positions have shifted: Jean-Kévin Duverne departed La Gantoise and joined Omonia Nicosia on 11 August, per Flashscore and Transfermarkt. Frantzdy Pierrot returned from his Rizespor loan to parent club AEK Athens on 30 June, per Flashscore. Duckens Nazon has been without a club since leaving Esteghlal on 20 July, per Transfermarkt. Martin Expérience left AS Nancy on 1 July and is now registered with FCV Dender in Belgium's Challenger Pro League, per Sofascore and Transfermarkt.

"He is a versatile player in the midfield… quick, physical… and has the ability to make an immediate impact." — Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner on Danley Jean-Jacques

Manno Sanon, the goal that silenced Italy

Haiti's only World Cup. Sanon beat Dino Zoff and ended 1,142 minutes of Italian invincibility — still the standard the Grenadiers chase.
