Nations League window closes: Isidor fit, Haiti go 3-1 in Group A
The October international window is the lead story. Haiti closed their CONCACAF Nations League League A group stage with a 3-1 record — victories over Trinidad & Tobago (3-2, Sep 24), Costa Rica (2-0, Sep 27) and the Dominican Republic (4-1, Oct 1), before losing 2-0 to Costa Rica in the return fixture on Oct 4. Coach David Badía, in his first month in charge, won three of four matches, with Haiti scoring eleven goals across the window.
Wilson Isidor is the standout name. The Sunderland forward scored a brace in the 4-1 demolition of the Dominican Republic — his second goal came from a left-footed finish at the back post following a corner — and injury rumours that circulated before the Costa Rica loss have been firmly dismissed. Sunderland supporters can expect him back fit. Isidor's contract at the Stadium of Light runs to 2030.
Danley Jean-Jacques (Philadelphia Union) also impressed: he scored against Costa Rica on Sep 27, registered an assist in the 4-1 win and started all four matches. Yassin Fortuné (Vizela) came off the bench to score in Santo Domingo. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (Wolves) contributed a substitute appearance in each game despite returning from a hamstring injury that had kept him out from late June to mid-September.
